Sept. 5: Red Devils at Blues on the Rocks series in Colorado, with B.B. King, Koko Taylor, Buddy Guy and Eric Johnson SOURCE

Sept. 6: Red Devils (with Smokey Hormel replacing Paul Size) record with Johnny Cash at Ocean Way studios in Los Angeles. Immediately following the Cash sessions, the band recorded what would have been their sophomore album. “Blackwater Roll,” “She’s Dynamite” and “Louisiana Blues” were all tackled with guitarist Zach Zunis; it is assumed that this is the version of “Blackwater Roll” appearing on the 1994 EP of the same name.
