Video: Red Devils’ ‘Backstroke’ in Scotland, 1993

In what is becoming a Black Friday tradition, No Fightin’ again presents a previously unpublished video.

This time, it is The Red Devils performing “Backstroke” on June 3, 1993, at King Tut’s Wah Wah Hut in Glasgow, Scotland. It is another standout showcase for Paul Size’s electrifying guitar prowess, Bill Bateman’s powerful drumming, and Lester Butler’s idiosyncratic stage presence.

More Black Friday videos

During the show, Butler mentions that it is the last night of an overseas tour. This would have been the April-May-June period where the Devils performed at the Borderline club in London, on “Euro MTV Most Wanted,” at the 1993 Moulin Blues Festival, on the “2 Meter Sessies” in the Netherlands, and at the Pinkpop Festival in Holland. (More dates can be found on the NoFightin.com timeline.)

The King Tut Wah Wah Hut performance has circulated as a bootleg for years, but the availability of the live video online has been rare. We are happy to make it available for Red Devils fans around the world!
