“Cross Your Heart” lyrics

“Cross Your Heart” (Sonny Boy Williamson), from “King King”

When you cross your heart to someone
You’re not supposed to, you’re not supposed to tell a lie
You cross your heart to someone
Little girl, you’re not supposed to, you’re not supposed to tell a lie
If you say wrong or do wrong, baby, it got to be so long, or goodbye

First time I crossed my heart for you baby
I was by your bedside, on my knees
First time I crossed my heart for you baby
I was by your bedside, on my knees
If you say wrong or do wrong, I got to beg you, darling, help me please

(harp solo)

I cross my heart for you baby
I cross for you, and no one else I know
I cross my heart for you baby
I cross for you, and no one else I know
anything you say darling, I got to do it or I’ve got to go

  1. I just found this nice clip of lester on youtube, I don’t know if you’ve seen it.

  2. Hey Nick, thanks for the heads up … but check out who uploaded that video.

Yes, it was our first Lester Butler upload to the nofightindotcom YouTube channel! So we’re glad you found it! Far as we can tell, it’s the first new LB on YouTube in about 8 months.

The video comes from a VPRO television program, “Lola Da Musica.” There are also several interview segments with Lester and G. Love.

This song appears in two parts on the show, but we thought it might be cool to try and hook them together to try and make it “complete.”

Watch nofightin.com for more on this program, etc. etc. Take care!
