1993-94 dates & “Blackwater Roll”

Posted in red devils with tags on January 2, 2017 by J.J.

Attached are a few documents — fliers, ads — from our friend Frank Roland Verstappe. Again, it fills in some 1993-94 blanks in our Red Devils timeline (also, our “Red Devels” timeline). That includes the UK release of the “Blackwater Roll” EP in 1993.

Our good friend Feelgood has sent us a number of magazine clippings that help fill in some of the dates on the Red Devils timeline.

Much of these come from the Agenda section of Block, a blues magazine based in The Netherlands. There are several clippings available, but we’ll start with 1993. The first two images are from the same edition of Block, though we don’t have publication dates for either magazine.

Blue Shadows 1990 dates added to timeline

Posted in red devils with tags , , on July 14, 2010 by J.J.

We’ve tried to verify all the material you see on with links back to source material. In this case, we think the source might have it wrong.
In the King King club Web site’s history section, they have several old fliers and handbills with dates. A calendar labeled “July 1990” lists several Blue Shadows Monday night gigs for the month.

However, the dates actually correspond with June 1990, rather than July.

It’s likely the bar just got the months screwed up, so we’re going to add these dates to the timeline as June until further verification.

Timeline added: Tours, albums, festivals, more

We’ve added a Red Devils/Lester Butler timeline to The timeline will focus specifically on The Red Devils proper, along with Lester Butler and 13.

This will be a perpetual work in progress, with corrections and additions coming when appropriate. I’ve trolled the web to find opening slots and tour dates, along with other important chronology. And almost every item in the timeline will be linked back to a “source” for verification. (Some without links were independently verified by or are “common-knowledge” events.)

As always, your help is appreciated!
