“Devil Woman” lyrics

“Devil Woman” (The Red Devils), from “King King”

I met a devil woman
In a dream the other night
Had the black cat eyes
And I swear she could fly
Yeah, I met a devil woman
In a dream the other night
Whoo-ooh, whoo-ooh
I swear she could fly
Yeah, I swear the gal could fly
Yeah, I swear she could fly
And I heard my mama cry

Met a gypsy in jail
Was about to die
Gave me two clear vials
Now, son they make you fly
Met a gypsy in jail
Was about to die
Whoo-ooh, whoo-ooh
Yeah I heard my mama cry
I can hear the little girl cry
I can hear her cry
Yeah I heard my mama cry
She said don’t you kill yourself

(harp solo)

Had a black cat bone
Had the John the Conqueroo’
Had the needle in my hand
But I ain’t got you
Yeah, I met a devil woman
In a dream the other night
Whoo-ooh, whoo-ooh
I can hear my mama cry
I can hear the little girl cry
I can hear my mama cry
Said now sonny don’t die
Don’t you kill yourself

(guitar solo)

Now you’re thinkin’ ’bout smokin’
Or the needle and the spoon
Just remember what I said
In the dirty back room
Well, I met a devil woman
In a dream the other night
Whoo-ooh, whoo-ooh
I heard my mama cry
I can hear her cry
I can hear the little girl cry
Said sonny don’t die
Don’t you kill yourself

(harp solo)

  1. We used to play this track exactly as Red Devils performed it on King King, such a great track….always got “floated” 2 min into the song.. 🙂
Love to do the harpsolo in this track and really pitch it at the end

  2. Love this tune so much. Can anyone help with deciphering the main riff for guitar? Thanks…and keep up the great work on this site.

  3. The guitar part is just Ebm Abm. The song is tuned down a half step. the basic riff starts on the 7th fret low E string and it’s just a simple riff in the 5th position on two strings.
