Memorial by Virginia Tura (2001)
We are just so pleased that so many of Lester’s friends and fans appreciate his music and keep his memory alive through his music. My brother was so very talented and had so much more to offer and died way before his time. With the third anniversary of Lester’s death coming up on May 9th, it helps to know that Lester lives on in the hearts of his family, friends and his wonderful fans in Holland.

Lester Butler Memorial Band
The final and closing appearance from Lester Butler and his band 13 on Moulin Blues in 1998 was his last one. One week later we heard that Lester came to his end by very strange circumstances. But his music lives on. There are still a lot of bands who cover him. On the internet there are also several sites who honor Lester. But the most important is that his fellow musicians haven’t forgotten him. On the podium are all musicians who played with Lester. More important is that the whole Lester Butler Memorial idea came from the players themself. The organisation finds it great that they have picked this festival to do it. Of course the organisation helped in every way. The moment that Lester’s music sounds through the festival tent will be one of the highlights.
