The Byron Bay Bluesfest boasts that it is “Australia’s premier contemporary Blues & Roots music festival,” and it has been running strong since 1990 in New South Wales.
The Red Devils were one of the key acts featured on the 1994 festival bill (then called the East Coast Blues Festival), according to the show poster.

Here is a mention of the show on the Byron Bay website:
The Holmes Brothers combined gospel and blues in a harmonious blend that stirred hearts and uplifted spirits, while The Paladins and The Red Devils injected a vibrant dose of high-energy rockabilly into the mix.
We also found a couple of advertisements from March 1994 editions of the Age newspaper in Melbourne, Australia:

Despite this, it seems unlikely that The Red Devils actually played the gig.
Sources close to the band tell No Fightin’ that the Devils would have been in the States during those dates mentioned (Easter weekend 1994), and that The Red Devils did not play the fest. No other evidence can be found showing Australia performances, either.
Were they advertised in error? Was it some other “Red Devils”? (Ironically, the local rugby team is called the “Byron Bay Red Devils.”)
Can anyone shed more light on this mystery gig?
